The song I chose to portray poetry though song lyrics is Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift featuring The Civil Wars because of the imagery in every verse. There are metaphors such as in the second line, "when all those shadows almost killed your light..."
I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound
Don't you dare look out your window darling
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)
La La (La La)
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)
Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...
Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh oh oh. [x7]

Spring Poem
By Karla Kuskin
I’m shouting
I’m singing
I’m swinging through trees
I’m winging skyhigh
With the buzzing black bees.
I’m the sun
I’m the moon
I’m the dew on the rose.
I’m a rabbit
Whose habit
Is twitching his nose.
I’m lively
I’m lovely
I’m kicking my heels.
I’m crying “Come Dance”
To the fresh water eels.
I’m racing through meadows
Without any coat
I’m a gamboling lamb
I’m a light leaping goat
I’m a bud
I’m a bloom
I’m a dove on the wing.
I’m running on rooftops
And welcoming spring!
I was mostly interested in this poem about spring, Spring, by Karla Kuskin, because it is so energetic and alive; just like the season. With the short phrases and rhyming, I sense so much fun, youth, and life in this poem. The verbs used in this poem, also give me the same happy feeling. There is so much joy and enery from the first line all the way through to the end.
Pablo Neruda
I chose Pablo Neruda's Ode to Clothes because I thought it was interesting how he illustrated his clothing as being such a huge role in his daily routine and overall, in his life. Every morning, after every shower, clothes are there awaiting him. Clothes are with him every hour of the day. They are a part of his soul and one day they will die with him. It's really creative how he puts it all together. I liked this one the most because of how he incorporates clothing with his existence.

Wind and Window Flower
The poem 'Wind and Window Flower' by Robert Frost caught my attention the most. For one, it was one of the easier ones I was able to analyze. Clearly, the poem is about love. The winter breeze is in love with the window flower. I imagine the flower being the female because it is as delicate and beautiful, while the breeze is male just as open and carefree. The love for the window flower does not seem like it is going to work. The 'breeze' would stand aside waiting for a chance to make his mark but would 'only passed her by, to come again at dark.' With all the wind's doubts and concerns, at last he stopped trying to pursue his love for the 'window flower' with a sigh. And towards the end of the poem 'And morning found the breeze, a hundred miles away.' meaning he was gone, moving on with his life.
